Fifteen years, half a million miles, 2 house gigs, thousands of shows, half a dozen upright basses, and a handfull of recordings later, "Slick" Joe Fick, the "energizer bunny" slap bassist from Tennessee is still going strong.

The NARAS nominated upright bassist/vocalist is the co-founder of the Memphis based rockabilly trio The Dempseys who were dubbed by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame as "the most entertaining rockabilly show on the planet." The group was voted "the Best Band in Memphis" by the readers of the Memphis Flyer in the annual Best of Memphis issue 8 years in a row and held two resident house gigs (Elvis Presley's Memphis & Blues City Cafe) for eleven years on Beale Street.

"Slick" Joe, known for his high energy performances, comic bass fiddle stunts, and his slap bass stylings a la Willie Dixon has entertained thousands of fans, played in half a dozen countries, portrayed his bass hero, Bill Black, in "Walk The Line," entertained President Bush and Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi during their visit to Memphis in June of 2006, and even played with Elvis!
